Opening post

Zimbabwe v Ireland: 2nd ODI

Harare Sports Club, 11 October 2015

1 up. Not going to bet on us for a series win, though, because cures of the commentator etc...

Only one change should be considered and that is Waller out for either Mutombodzi or Chari, I guess if it's Chari then he will open and Mutumbami will bat @7 .......

I'm sure the Irish will make changes, Stuart Thompson was a wasted selection didn't bowl and scored 1 so expect Niall O'Brien to take his place to strengthen their batting .......

Preview from Liam Brickhill looks like he believes there will be no changes to the Zimbabwean lineup ......

So, we are bowling again, Mutombodzi in for Waller. So, the experiment of non-bowling all rounders at no.7 continue. But surely, this must be the end of the road for Waller's career.

Zimbabwe: 1 Chamu Chibhabha, 2 Richmond Mutumbami (wk), 3 Craig Ervine, 4 Sean Williams, 5 Elton Chigumbura (capt), 6 Sikandar Raza, 7 Tino Mutumbodzi, 8 Wellington Masakadza, 9 Luke Jongwe, 10 Tinashe Panyangara, 11 John Nyumbu

Malcolm out. But why keep Nyumbu? Play a batsman. Stick Chari in at 7. Raza, Williams & Mutombodzi can handle 10 overs of spin. (Panyangara, Jongwe, Wellington the frontline; with Chibhabha&Elton sharing the other 10 overs.)

Beat me to it. It has to be. But if he was just left out of the squads until the domestic season started then we wouldn't mind his reselction after one or two knocks. He was unfairly selected & consistently failed. So yeah he's career has to be over. Coventry's selection also makes Malcolm's situation worse. Too many youngsters now - Kasuza, Chari, Kaia, Mutombodzi, Burl, Nkosna Mpofu etc. No way he's coming back.

Might be tough for Waller to get back into the ODI team. Another strong Logan Cup season and he could try and make it as a Test specialist though... like a Marcus North-lite, he tends to get a few runs but what works in his favour is he has a surprisingly good bowling record.

Nyumbu was our best bowler in the last game, you'd have to be crazy to drop him.

Apparently Waller is on the field for Chigs ......

Yeah, whatever is the reason for Chigs not being there, why would one have Waller as the substitute given his shocking fielding record? Why not Chari or Madziva?

What a day, come on lads! Lets have it! Beating the cocky Irish to put them back in their place! I'm sure it'll silence some critics that we don't deserve test status and that they do

13 more required. Ervine needs 8 of them...

We've done it  we've won the series, and Ervine scores his second ODI ton of the summer! Well dine boys, so proud

:4: Done in style. Well done to Ervine.

Nicely steered run chase, everyone played their part.

Shown them their place didn't we? :D

I must admit I was never an Ervine believer, but his two centuries in the last couple of months show he is a much improved player. Great team victory, everyone chipping in, including the ever-present 12th man of the day, Waller.

So pleased we've beaten them, honest to god they came over to Zimbabwe with a real point to prove and they haven't made it. If they had won this series they would have left with a real feeling that they were better than us and deserved test status, massive massive win for us and even better than Ervine has reached a ton. Easily our best batsmen, surely

They always seem arrogant, it's a shame they seem to get the better of us in the high profile games. But it's good to take this series; hopefully we can make it a whitewash.
