That's a very interesting thought. And no, you do not sound like a nutter. Looking on from the outside it always struck me how important cricket seemed to be for the white identity in Zim (cricket and probably farming). There are numberless examples in history where dictators, conquerors, colonialists, leaders of ethnic, religious or social groups have tried to destroy the identity of the perceived 'enemy' by taking over or destroying the very symbols of their identity.

Money is probably the only reason why cricket in Zim has not been completely destroyed yet and seen a false dawn in 2010/11.

And again it does not mean that there are not quite a few black Zimbabweans who actually love and care about cricket.

Absolutely.
As has been pointed out a player must not have turned 19 before 1st of September preceding the tournament. Thats counts out quite a few players. The icc regulations also state that if a team is found playing two or more overage players the whole team will be disqualified. Maybe they are working on its better to be disqualified than getting their arsed whipped.

So what's their plan? Surely they know the rules? There's 4 that I know of, but talking to someone yesterday I was told there's 6 guys over age. I've read the document and it says that they have to submit passports, Birth Certificates and an independent doctor's certificate verifying physiological age. The only thing I can think of is that they have some kind of dispensation, but I'm not seeing how. If by some chance they beat one of the big teams and jeopardize their chances they will surely lodge a complaint. One of my issues is Dylan Nel, he's lived in SA practically his whole life and pitched up to trials and made it. By all accounts he's a decent player and a nice guy, but one has to question whether he's not just going to do the WC and then head on home. If ZC are ok with that then good luck to him, but that's hardly giving our guys a chance. I question the selection of 5 (6?) seamers as well. If we wanted to improve on last year we should have been playing games 6 months ago and not grasping at straws. I'm sure I'm missing something because ZC would not field half the side as over agers unless the rules have changed, or they have permission. Weird.

Is the age thing an issue for this tour. Do the same rules govern selection for this tour as they do the 2014 World Cup?

Who are the players that are overage?

Neil Johnson, Brendan Taylor, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), David Houghton, Sean Williams, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Paul Strang, Eddo Brandes, Blessing Muzarabani
