That makes more sense. Maybe Cricinfo hired the writers from the Daily Nation, hence the confusion.

Very good win! Yes, we could have finished it off sooner, but an excellent win nonetheless. Great debut by Mutizwa and Cremer. Waller for Matsikenyeri would make this side even stronger.

But what is this confusion about Mupariwa keeping wickets? I don't think any substitute can keep wickets. It has to be someone in the playing 11. What happened to Mutizwa?

It was mentioned that the catch by the substitute Mupariwa had the Cricinfo commentary "caught by the keeper" alongside it. Mupariwa used to be a wicket keeper, which made it not so unbelievable. Could have been a mistake though. No idea what happened to Mutizwa (or Taibu).

We probably should designate someone as the backup wicket keeper. If it does have to be someone in the playing 11 who should it be? Maybe Sibanda? You don't want to lose any fantastic fielders, which Sibanda is, but Sibanda is probably the only player who realistically is quite unlikely to bowl. And all of the batsmen are good fieldsmen which makes it difficult.

Our players also reached few milestones in today's match. Chiggs became the maxium six-hitter for Zimbabe with 49 sixes overall surpassing...(no guess) Heath Streak.

He scored his highest score in ODI

His 7 sixes were also, probably, highest in an innings by a Zimbabwean.

Cremer joined the ellite list of few players taking wicket in their first ever over in ODI.

Another point for brain storming is whether 26 runs, which were jointly hammered by Dabengwa-Chiggs-Price in 49th over of Kamande, is our best ever in an over or not?

Well, I believe it equals the best. In 2003 World Cup Super Six game against New Zealand, skipper Heath Streak and young Sean Ervine plundered an amazing 62 runs off the last 3 overs. I still remember each shot they hit in that carnage. Bowlers on the recieving end: Harris (23 runs), Vettori (13 runs) and Andre Adams (26 runs in the final over). Cremer must be the first in history to take a wicket in his first over in two different forms of the game at international level. Remember Al-Barakah cup?

Wohow......great win Zimbos.....shud be interesting if Bangla ever goes to Zim for a seires....nevertheless the win against Kenya shows Zim is on another level....hopefully they keep getting better!!
Great win but if Zim doesnt white wash Kenya then i would say we are Pathetic, its high time these guys show that they are better than all associate sides. No more giving wins to teams like Kenya and Ireland. We have unfinished business with Bangladesh :roll:

I'd take 4-1 to Zim, knowing how often we have bad days.

Plenty of chance for that later this year - Bangladesh in Zim in August, Zim back in Bangladesh in October, and the possibility of a tri-series around June. Should all help to close the gap in the rankings nicely.

What I'd really like to see are the two series against Bangladesh including some proper unofficial Tests between the two national sides - no Academy or 'A' teams. If Zimbabwe were to win them convincingly - and I think we would - then we'd have a real case for resuming Test matches...

Congratulation to Zimbabwe!A comprehensive win came against Kenya.

All the bowlers contributed equally.It's a matter of joy that Graeme Cremer made an excellent ODI debute taking wicket in his first bowl,name in the record book.Pricey was bit expensive but took 2 wickets.Price is decreasing his bowling average day by day,once it was over 60 and now it is about 42.I think it will be under 30 very soon.I feel that Price will be amoung the top 10 ODI leading wicket takers of 2009.

I reckon the spin bowling department of Zimbabwe will be treated as one of the best in the recent future.The spin is led by experienced and world class slow left arm orthodox spinner Raymond Price alng with off spinner Prosper Utseya and Promising young leg spinner Graeme Cremer.They are also supported by Keith Dabengwa and part time Hamilton Masakadza.

Stuart Matsikenyeri should be dropped for tommorows match.I dont find any reason of dropping Tatenda Taibu.Though his recent form is not that well,but he is a world class player.He can get his form back in this Kenyan series as Vusimuzi Sibanda did.Worth noting,Sibanda's form was worse than Taibu's but Sibanda retained his place but not Taibu.I cant agree with it at all.Taibu should replace Matsikenyeri for the next match.

I would like to include Malcolm Waller in the final 11 but Forster Mutizwa did well in the 1st ODI.So,he should retain his place.I think,this should have to be the lineup for the 2nd ODI:

1.Vusimuzi Sibanda

2.Hamilton Masakadza

3.Tatenda Taibu(WK)

4.Sean Williams

5.Forster Mutizwa

6.Elton Chigumbura

7.Keith Dabengwa

8.Prosper Utseya(Capt)

9.Raymond Price

11.Edward Rainsford

Malcolm Waller(12 th men).

Zimbabwe should win this match comprehensively too and lead this 5 match ODI series by 2-0.I am waiting to see centuries made by the batsmen and a 5 wicket haul by Pricey.

Great stuff from the guys, i am impressed by the boundaries by Chigumbura. Its high time we thrash these associate sides, and show ICC why we are still relevant.
