CEPHAS Zhuwao claimed victory and the £1,000 prize pot at the inaugural Super Over final last week.
Zhuwao, of Eversley CC, beat off 16 other cricketers to clinch the title at the John Lyon School Playing Fields in Harrow on the Hill.
He triumphed over Boyne Hill’s Saj Hussein in a tense finale that saw Zhuwao smash three sixes in four balls to become Super Over champion 2013.
Super Over matches are better described as one-on-one duels with each player facing 10 balls from their opponent to score as many runs as they can.
They then change over for another 10 balls, with the winner being the player that scores the most in their innings.

Match Report – 2013 Final
The inaugural Super Over final took place on Sunday 28 July and saw 16 players battle it out at the John Lyon School Playing Fields with Cephas Zhuwao combining big hitting with intelligent bowling to claim victory and the £1,000 prize pot.
Cephas Zhuwao of Eversley CC needed to overcome several close encounters and some outstanding displays of six hitting before making the final. Saj Hussein (Boyne Hill CC), the eventual runner-up bowled superbly throughout the tournament, twice defending single figure scores. However Hussein’s total of 15 from his 10 balls proved too few as Zhuwao smashed three sixes in four balls to become Super Over Champion 2013.
On collecting his award, Zhuwao said, “The event was great and I am always a winner. I am very proud and very happy and want to thank everyone involved.”
The format produced tense finishes to almost every match and brought out the best from some high quality club cricketers.
Each cricket club located in and around London was able to nominate one player to represent them with the 16 finalists being chosen by an online vote that saw nearly 2,000 entries.
