These are career defining moments. Like when Steve Waugh asked Justin Langer to open and when Sachin Tendulkar was asked to open in an ODI in 1994 or when the Lankan think tank shot Jayasuriya up the order prior to the 1996 world cup. Results are now part of cricketing history. The moves eventually sidelined Michel Slater (and he still sulks about it), Navjot Sidhu and Roshan Mahanama respectively, but that never meant they were bad players.
Time has come for the selectors to install Chakabva at the top of the order in tests at least, replacing Vusi Sibanda. This is the right time, the man is dealing in centuries, just like Vusi stormed back into the team with a Bradmanesque season in 2009. Can the selectors take that intelligent call, and in this case, can Chakabva respond to it and embrace the opening position? If this happens, we could be in for some exciting times ahead.

Chakabva might have the technique to open, yes. But he hasn't opened succesfully for the Eagles in the past (last season in particular, if I recall correctly).
Raza, in my opinion, is not an opener in the longer format. Certainly not on the international stage.

Yes, that is why Chakabva responding to the call is also important. I am a little disappointed with the fact that he did not take up that challenge in the domestic scene. Raza took it up, but he does not still have the technique to be pushed at the top of the order. If the choice is between Vusi and Raza, we should stick to Vusi and have Raza battle it out for the middle order slot. And Raza has a great chance of getting in there already.
At this rate, by the way, is the presumably sealed spot of Williams in trouble too (in tests) ?

I think Regis is also threatening Richmond's slot. I'd still have Williams in ahead of them as batsmen, plus we need his backup spin with our stocks in that department low atm.
