Opening post

There is a certain tone about this article that I like. Zim Cricket is not an Associate team period. We are in this for the ride winning it was always going to be a bonus. And Zim have made this point very clear. I must admit when I first read the headline I was like what the &*&#. But I now understand the reason for this decision and more so, its a slap in the face for Scotland("We may play you but we not in the same league").

Thumbs Up ZC, though that US$100,000.00 prize money would have gone a very long way in the development of the game in Zimbabwe. Costly decision but good nonetheless.

To ZC, touché. Until recently I was of the opinion ZC should allow the match to take place in SA then sort out the problem of UK political influence in cricket later. This was based on the impression I had, that ZC had pushed for the venue change in the first place. However this statement refutes that and makes an even better argument, that we'd rather forfeit the match than entertain change of venue based on anything but safety. Besides, ZC quietly whispers, we don't need to win this to prove that our second team is on par with the best Associates out there.

I think it is important that Zimbabwe takes the stand that we play our home games in Zimbabwe or not at all. It is a very slippery slope once you start playing in neutral venues. I think ZC have done the right thing by forfeiting this match.

Anyway the Intercontinental Cup gave a good work out for the Boys . Our next focus is tio engage A sides of Test playing countries . New Zealand A is the first step , maybe South Africa A next .

Definately ZC should be looking to engaging more of the A sides for test playing countries and playing a proper probable Test team than playing the A side or Board 11. New Zealand A tour seems to conincide with the South African tour hence we may have lost an oppotunity here.

I'm not so sure it's a lost opportunity. In fact it hands excellent exposure against a pretty strong NZ A team for the second stream, many of whom won't have played that much against players of that standard.

They are embarassed and they don't even know what to say, failing to acknowledge Zimbabwe's generousity in their progression to the final
