MIDWEST RHINOS pair of fast bowler Edward Rainsford and batsman Vusi Sibanda might face disciplinary hearing for their actions towards a match official on the second day of their team’s Castle Logan Cup four-day game against Mashonaland Eagles at Harare Sports Club yesterday. Rainsford is the one most likely to face the music as he swore at umpire Iknow (yes I know that IS his name!) Chabi after he turned down his lbw appeal.

The fast bowler verbally abused the umpire and this could be heard by anyone near the field. He swore, “f**k man!….that’s f***ing cheating.” As if this wasn’t enough, Rainsford could be seen saying words at umpire Chabi as he walked back to his run up.
Vusi
Sibanda had his own story. The opening batsman showed dissent to the same official after he was adjudged lbw to Trevor Garwe for nine runs. After seeing the finger being raised, Sibanda threw his bat to the ground in disappointment with the decision before taking quite sometime before walking off the field.
Rainsford obviously getting annoyed at his lack of wickets.

I will never condone such actions. Rainsford is being big headed by disrespecting the officials. That kind of behaviour is unbecoming, particularly of cricketers! If he is to make a deserved return to the national team, then he must quickly shed that kind of foolishness. not even rugby players are allowed to carry on that way! Shameless!
Under the circumstances, I'll sympathise with Vusi! Deliver consistenly and at length for the national team, lose you mother, go away and earn some money, only to cut it short upon being selected for the touring squad then left out due to tribalism; frustrated and having registered low scores in a couple of innings, something was bound to give!

MASHONALAND EAGLES head coach Kevin ‘KC’ Curran failed to be a role model for his players when he almost traded blows with umpires during a rain delay at Harare Sports Club yesterday.
Eagles are taking on the Midwest Rhinos in the first-class Logan Cup tournament.
Yesterday’s incident comes barely a week after his frontline bowler Kyle Jarvis was charged for insulting umpire Langton Rusere in the same competition.
KC blew his top and threatened to give umpire Owen Chirombe a hiding after he had ordered him to leave the field when the ground staff was working on the playing area after a heavy down pour.
The whole drama started when KC told the reserve umpire Joshua Paul and the ground staff to remove the covers after rains had stopped.
In response, Paul told KC that he had to consult the on-field umpires — Chirombe and Iknow Chabi — to further assess the ground conditions since the umpires make all the decisions on the match including conditions that affect play. The Eagles boss persisted until Paul instructed him to return to the pavilion.
A few moments after the confrontation, heavy rains came down again such that had the covers been removed the game would have been cancelled.
When the rain stopped after almost an hour, the umpires walked onto the field.
As the officials were supervising the ground staffs who were working on affected areas, KC arrived and confronted the match officials.
The Eagles coach seemed to suggest that play should have started since the rains had stopped.
This time he targeted the more senior Chirombe, who in ire told him to ‘go away and let them do their job’.
This didn’t go well with KC who told Chirombe that, “I will knock you down.
“This is the reason why you are not on the international panel.”
However, Chirombe has officiated in Zimbabwe’s home international matches.
