Opening post

I think the prpblem with the Cremer selection is not because he lacks talent. The problem is that he had just returned from injury and being sent to play a test against one of the worlds leading teams in unfriendly spinning conditions was a step too far for a player just back from a long layoff. With the injury to Price there was certainly a hole in the side. Utseya would perhaps be the least threatening spinner to ever grace test cricket, perhaps Greg Lamb would have been better but he is hardly world class either.

What did I say regarding this? Weren't they exactly my reasons for predicting that he would be a total failure, but BRM & you guys said how excited you are that he was back, and were even prepared to throw him in as a second spinner. "A leg spinner is a must have in Tests, and Cremer will make an impression".

Don't just blame the coaches(I believe they pushed for his selection not the panel). Look at yourself in the mirror and admit that you were just as mistaken and inept in you rjudgement of this this one! A mistake which can quite police truncate his international career!

I don't think you will find anywhere that I said Cremer should be selected in this match. I often disagree with you but I always felt Cremer wasn't ready for this test yet. Problem was Ray got injured and there was no one else better. The selectors can't be blamed for unforeseen injuries.

In which case you MUST agree then that his was a wasted ticket doomed to fail! He should've been nowhere near McLean park! Period! Even Utseya whom you rate lowly, would've performed better in this one! This was a clear case of shooting oneself in the leg!

Netsai mushangwe would have been a better bet .He would have not got clubbed for the runs that Cremer leaked......

You lot really make me laugh, you come on here abusing each other and putting forward your own personal favourites, what reasons do any of you have for the claims you're making ?

Utseya would have been better, Mushangwe would have been better, even the joke of Mutumbodzi and Mugava would have been better and they aren't even out of their cricketing nappies yet

One man WOULD have been better, Ray Price, but he was injured so Cremer played, or should someone have given Traicos a call ?

Grow up the lot of you and stop the constant abuse, personal views and argument yes, abuse no

There is no way of knowing if Utseya would have been better. I fear he would have been treated with disdain also. I think we have learnt Ray Price's true value to the side.

Cremer is our second best spinner. We needed to include one when Price went out. Cremer went for too many but had some wicket taking potential. He shouldn't be singled out amongst a range of poor performances. Not least by our fieldsmen.
