Opening post

Is he good enough to play for Zimbabwe. Honestly im not convinced. To me he looked pretty average, just like the currrent crop of bowlers we have at the moment. I would reckon Kyle Javis to be a better strike bowler than him.

Surely snubing Zimbabwe is nt much of a lose to us.

Im more pained in losing Balance than Ireland

Certainly a strange one this etoreveyi, he was a great prospect at one time but seems to have fallen to pieces, he didn't have the best of times with Gloucestershire but since his move to Middlesex things have gone from bad to worse

Yesterday was his first senior match since one game in august last year and bowling to Gayle, Smith, Bravo and the rest of the guys he was up against is hardly a welcome back

He signed a 2 year contract which expires at the end of this season, reckon he'll be fortunate to get another one unless he can pull a few rabbits out the hat in the next couple of months

Maybe he'll be looking for a franchise when the Zim season starts
Im not sure why people wish to play for england. On average l think a person will be 30years when he is eligible to play for that team. Look Andy Flower played for Zim and built a name for himself.

Imagine these 2 senario's

1. Balance scores a Century aganist England in his 1st test match for Zimbabwe

2. Balance called up for England squad.

I think you can prove that you are one of the best by beating or performing aganist the best. Obviously playing for England you end up being over shadowed by a lot of guys.

Maybe im wrong, but thats my feeling.

But for sport in zimbabwe to glow l think we need new administrator's cause every sport at the moment is lacking quality leadership. At least cricket is better.

Hope a Zim win this Sunday

Is the game free or what?

He had a decent season with Gloucestershire two years ago (while struggling to hold down a permanent place in their side previously), but that season there was plenty of life in the pitches at Bristol which should have helped, Gemaal Hussain was another who took lots of wickets that year -- both seamers were then picked up by more fancier counties (Middlesex and Somerset) and have fallen away alarmingly since.

I seem to recall Ireland getting injured at the start of last season though.

😂 i watched that game he seemed useless i dont know why he would be ratted highly he looked well below average, plus besides they have aborted palying for zim missing out on international exposure
If I'm not mistaken, Greg Lamb was having a horrible time in England and you never would've thought that a return to Zimbabwe would turn things around for him. I'm not saying he's great player but he's okay and that's good enough to have him knocking on the selectors' door.

So, who knows AJ might return and though he has been poor for Middlesex, I'm sure he'll find himself in Zim colours in no time.
