An Englishman, Alan Butcher, now coaches Zimbabwe, and there are other good men - including Grant Flower, Campbell and Heath Streak - involved in the game there, but, cruelly, maladministration and financial crises still blithely walk hand in hand.


Those three cannot be separated from that maladministration. Thay are part of the problem at ZC as much as a lot of ZCF forumites find it hard to stomach.
Hardly surprising, it is the Daily Telegraph...

The campbells n co are involved on the cricketing side its the bvute s that run the finances .heath streak is only appointed by them

Bvute not at ZC BUT it would not surprise me one bit if he is still pulling the strings from afar. I mentioned these guys specifically on the maladministration - so thats whether it is inc cricketing or management. yes he is appointed by him and uses his influence for maladministration.

Flower, Campbell and Streak have the runs on the board. If they are part of the problem then I'd hate to see what the picture is like with them not in it. But we know what it would be like... guys with First Class averages of 21.30 will be up against guys who haven't even played First Class cricket for the position of head coach of the national team. And for what it's worth, Dominus' influence in Zimbabwean cricket has surely been a good thing. They introduced a well organised, professionally run and arguably lucrative domestic Twenty20 tournament. Not bad considering we're still waiting for the scorecards from ZC's first attempt at one in the 2006-07 season.

The moral of the story is I think having ex-players in the fold is never a bad thing. Putting guys that haven't played cricket in charge of cricket affairs doesn't make sense in a Zimbabwean cricket context.

Yeah, I would rather have Dominus, Campbell, Flower, and Streak then anyone else I can think of? What is Grant Robertson doing these days? Or Dave Elman-Brown? Or even Vince Hogg?
