You'll have noticed we've been flooded with more spam than usual of late.
I've had a play with the setting, and if I've done it right all new users will now need to have their first 10 posts to the forums approved by an admin before they'll appear. I realise that's a bit of a pain in the arse for new users, but it's the easiest way of putting a lid on things.
Of course, I may have screwed up the settings, in which case Strange Things may happen while I figure out what went wrong. :)

Bit of a loophole, in that accounts that registered before I changed the settings aren't caught in the trap. Working on that... Good news is that for accounts registered after, it's working perfectly. :)

While you guys will be blissfully ignorant of the spam now, behind the scenes we're getting more of it than ever - all being caught in the mod queue, fortunately, but enough of it that I'm having a hard time keeping up.
So, two more changes that you may notice, that I'm hoping will improve matters:
1) Switched from GD Captcha, which was completely unreadable for humans but apparently wasn't fooling any spammers, to ReCaptcha. I'm told it's a bit more effective, we'll see.
2) Using a centralised IP blocking list for known spam sources. There's a chance this may catch people who shouldn't be being blocked, if so use the Contact page over at zimcricketnews.com to let me know.

The clean-up continues. I've disabled a large number of accounts who have never posted - mostly spam accounts, but there are possibly a few lurker accounts in there as well. If you're one of them, drop me an email with your username via the contact details here, and I'll reactivate you. But don't wait too long, as I'll be purging the deactivated accounts in a week or so.
