Players without contracts

I was thinking the other night, why hasn't Malcolm Lake or Ryan Burl been given even an academy contract ? I've just re watched the highlights of the India match, and he's as good a batter as Nathan Waller and probably just as much the bowler! Surely if we want future competition for the national side, this guy should be offered something.

Ryan Burl too! I've not seen him bat, but i've heard that he's going to be a very exciting prospect, not to mention the fact that he's left handed.

I just want to see them offered something, even if it's just to wet their appetite in terms of staying and playing first class cricket, or even better, the national side!

Anybody agree ?
