Opening post

Quite an astonishing innings by Querl with wickets falling regularly at the other end, and a somewhat out of the blue.

oops for Williams ... please don't get me wrong (and i know getting out very early in an innings is not uncommon even for the best bats) i don't have it in for Sean BUT we should expect more from him if he's a shoe-in to the national team (as seems the wont of most of this forum)!

Sean and Ali gone cheaply. :D Both after facing less balls and scoring no more than Chari, and far less than Duffin. Now for them to head back to England! Keith & Ewing in next game. Right CrimsonAvenger ;)

Congratulations Querl. I'll be rooting for Kyle to get at least a half century as well, to follow up on a decent effort. Picked up two wickets, but was tight enough against the top order. Did pull it back against the Rhinos tail later on.

I'm afraid Williams will have to wait until the 2nd innings to make an impression on your betterdays.

takleg, there are quotas at national level, therefore, how can there not be quotas at franchise level?

Yeah ... or i will wait until xmas to see if he's changed my impression!! - he already has made one in this match!

Forster also quickly receeding from national consciousness...

Are there?

And 15th FC fifty for Prosper. Some bowlers are having a decent day...with the bat.

A Zimbabwean fast(ish) bowler who can bat. Is that not a rarity?

As things stand, Querl averages 47 with the bat and 14 with the ball in Logan Cup cricket!

Looking at both attacks at the present moment further justifies why I say Rainsford, Panyangara & Mpofu are still ahead of the pack. Young hopefuls like Muzhange & Vitori(plus Jarvis despite pulling things back in later overs, as well as spinners Mugava etc), simply cannot apply pressure consistently even when wickets are not falling.

I fail to understand on what basis they would leapfrog these far more competent and reliable operators!

Surely a contrast of the recovering Rainsford against Pak in the tour game, to what actually transpired in the Test match is a case in point.

If run rates hover around 4 at FC level, it's only logical to expect worse at international level. It would be a travesty to go against the likes of Gayle, Samuels, Dwayne & Pollard minus this trio!

Dizzy like innings from Querl.

Also true...so, let me again amend. I don;t see him passing his previous best of 32 very often. At least i'd be surprised if he did and VERY surprised if he hit his 55 average again in a long time. Who knows though, maybe the English journos are right and he actually is an all rounder :?

The guy batted at 9 and 11 for Somerset 2s in the English season, and managed scores of 0 and 1... Now he has scored 180 at nearly a run a ball against an attack containing 4 Zim internationals,...

i don't see the FC game in zim through rose-couloured spectscles but i am a little defensive so if i reversed your logic and used S Ervine as my case in point we could see he plays for his first team regularly in the Counties and does no better in Zim than in the UK...

@Hhm, I try to have unconditional love for all, Mutizwa included.

I'm happy Mutumbami is making runs, Rocks have little else, but let's be a little less fickle. Mutizwa has 10 FC hundreds. He needs to fail a bit more before he is written off. The issue of him not keeping right now is far more relevant though, so perhaps Mutumbami is second behind Regis for that reason.

I have not seen Mutumbami keep either, and there is not enough info on the quality of our keepers. I would be willing to pick a bloke who wasn't going to miss too many chances or give away a dozen byes an innings over someone averaging 5 more with the bat.

Ervine did score a double hundred for the Rocks a couple of seasons ago... I think pretty much every single county player who has played in the Logan Cup has managed to improve his stats by doing so... I could dig out Ervine's record to see if this is the case with him as well, but that's pretty long. I would guess that he averages more than his career mark of 35 in Logan Cup cricket.

At least Rocks managed to fight for 117 overs in the second innings. Still heading for big loss.

I am in liitle doubt that the standard of county cricket is higher than that of the logan cup - and was not attempting to liken the two so have little doubt that county players will perform well (better) in Zim. no need to check the stats on Sean though - the very fact that you'd have to dig it out is evidence enough for me that we can't simply see daylight between his performances in the two leagues as an absolute no-brainer. There are probably many reasons for that... but blips are no condemnation of standards when, at the same time, others, in other recognised leagues, are not dominating with the same levels of exuberance - even if they are performing above the standards expected of them in the counties!

simple fact is this

was an over-reaction ... that no amount of obtuse scrutiny of my language (over the message - which is the the Logan cup's standard cannot be dismissed by one innings) will justify.

Eagles' tail rolls over and Rhinos grab a big win.

That's not a big win Jemisi, that's a MASSIVE win ;)

Shame about the poor performance from Mike Chinoya though, only 2 wickets
