Out of his depth!? 12 of his 14 products here(apart from the 'old' Maregwede & Hondo can easily feature in Zim & Zim XI colours. With his partner Makoni already a selector, I think all these boys will feel more at home and loved than the kind of love it's said Butcher gave them.
Hami, Elton, Taibu, Chibhabha, Shingi, Mutizwa, Utseya, Maruma, Taurai Muzarabani, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Trevor Garwe, Tendai Chisoro, Hondo, Maregwede
Minus the Grant & Streak meddling, I'm sure Mangongo will carry on well by himself and continue the upward curve he created only for other to stiffle it. He is after all the Assistant Coach which means first in line. As for never having played FC cricket - you don't have to be a horse to be a jockey! Just like Jono's case, the rules will have to be 'adapted' when it comes to Mangongo.
Apart from Pommie, seeing as the Matambanadzos & Henry are busy with matters far from the game we love(affection they lack), the likes of Chawaguta, Mutendera etc are the pioneers as far as transformation is concerned. Speak about them with respect! If Walter won't coach Eagles, then he may as well be Steve's assistant. The Eagles can be waste their money on another import so he can work towards a County role.
It's not like any of these coaches(Butcher, Marsh, Simmons etc) have ever done anything better for Zim than these guys would. Whatever value they add carries no huge difference to what Steve can achieve at the helm of the side! Our senior cricketers are more mature now, at their prime actually, and the rapport between them and Mangongo can only be a bonus.
