can somebody please explain why our boys cannot play county/domestic cricket overseas and not play for their own nation...zimbabwe
i want to spark the fire to lobby the correct people about this issue.
the domestic seasons arent even concurrent! and think about it. if we could draw from county players, not only would this open up more opportunity for people like vusi or BT, lets face it we instantly get sean ervne and querl back... and it gives us half a shot at getting back ballance
zimbabwe needs these guys people.

This could happen if the counties considered these players to be good enough to be overseas players. They don't. Therefore Zimbabweans can only be signed as Kolpak players. A condition of a kolpak registration is that you are not available to play international cricket. If any of these guys played for Zim, they would instantly become ineligable to play county cricket. Unless they were considered good enough to be signed as overseas players. Which they wouldn't be...

Well it's not going to happen. No chance ECB will allow counties more than 1 official overseas player "provided they come from Zimbabwe". Equally, no chance that the Kolpak rule will be relaxed to allow players to play internationals, as this would result in the whole of SA going over to play...

I think the ECB could have a Zim and BD and Associates clause that allows a second international per county provided they are from the minnows. Why not support the development? It is only going to appoly to a handful of players - Couple from BD, couple from Zim. Not having Ballance and Ervine in our team is ridiculuous and it is only due to financial constraints, really. This would be effective financial support for the minnows that doesn't cost England anything.

see, now we are talking.
it also might persuade someone like that kid in the eng u/19 team from zimbabwe or a lower level SA player to jump ship to slip the system...in the process strengthening a minnow
