Opening post

For the non-India Test nations.

Afghanistan will be hosting South Africa in a 3-match ODI series in UAE in September outside of the FTP. Hopefully the Saffers send a full strength squad. ACB getting increased fixtures due to their impressive showing in back to back world cups.

Other bit of interesting news...Bangladesh and Pakistan are in the middle of an A team series in Darwin, Australia of all places. Bangladesh seem to be following the recent Indian tactic of sending an A side on a shadow tour just prior to the main team's Test tour. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque will be headlining the Bangladesh A team's tour of Pakistan next month.

Sri Lanka have yet another new white ball captain...Asalanka takes over in ODIs from Kusal Mendis.

Also India (T20) and Bangladesh (ODI) will be hosting the next two Asia Cups in 2025 and 2027, respectively.

Congrats to Bangladesh.Big win. What a knock from Mushfiqur

Pakistan cricket has a lot of issues and it's good timing with them coming to Zim in November. Usually good for one win but maybe a series win is a possibility.

The 20th test win for Bangladesh. Mushy with a terrific knock of 191 eclipsing Rizwan’s 171.

Very little consistency. Same side got smashed by Sri Lanka at home…Sri Lanka who in turn got mauled by Pakistan.

Massive win this for Bangladesh. 21 years after Inzamam denied them by 1 wicket!!

Well deserved Bangladesh!

How much worse could it get for Pakistan though? They are a side on rapid decline! It's literally been a free fall!

Pakistan are a very over-rated side.

For Bangladesh any win in the WTC is of course a good thing...however, consistency is the key. This is first WTC cycle where Bangladesh have won more than 1 game, so that is a positive, especially with half of their fixtures still remaining to be played. They have India away and if they can push India to Day 5 that would be a pretty big achievement in and of itself. They should aim to win at least one Test at home vs SA and try to win one away in the West Indies to close out the 3rd cycle.

Bangladesh finally have an express bowler for Test cricket.

Nahid Rana is quick. No doubt about that.

Wheels are coming off for Pakistan here... A series white wash at home against Bangladesh?! Well, I don't know but there seems to be no end for this free fall of Pakistan cricket team.

May be reflective of where they are going as a nation.

SL with a big win in England. Makes it very tough for England to make it to the FInal now.

India obv still in pole position. You have to say that Australia look likely to take the other final spot, even if they underwhelm vs India at home.

The WTC seems to be quite competitive this time around.

Pakistan is a minor nation now? I guess they did lose to the United States.

Pakistan have been a minor nation for a long while now. In fact, Sri Lanka have achieved as much - if not more - than what Pakistan has in the last 10-15 years. Not to beat a dead horse, but getting whitewashed by Bangladesh at home kinda reiterates the point if losing to the USA, and always losing 1 game per series to Zimbabwe haven't already.

In other news, 3 days rained out in the NZ-Afghan test. Poor scheduling, and you've got feel for the Afghans who play so little Test cricket in not getting an opportunity to demostrate their rise in ODIs and T20Is can be replicated in the most prestigous format as well.

They play more test cricket than their women’s team 😂

What’s the deal with the ground? I’ve seen photos circulating showing sods of turf dug up, looks excessive for a rain affected match.

New Zealand got spanked left right and center.

Shadystan making england work hard. Shan Masood 150 then out chipping it back to old Jack Leach. Blatant fixing 😂

Looks like batting on the Islamabad expressway. Game finely in the balance. Shadystan with the runs on the board, tailor made deck for bazball but both sides with a propensity to implode and lose what should be a nailed on draw.
ZCF OriginalLegend
Shadystan taking the new ball 3 balls into the over instead of the start is the most blatant spot fixing ever 😂 😂

Zimdesh getting proper smacked here. Lost a Test in 2 days and getting all sorts of crushed in T20s by India A.

However, I was a bit surprised to see young Tanzim Sakib clocking 147.2 km/h on his wicket taking ball. I did see him get up to 90 mph during the World Cup but wasn't sure if it was a speed gun error. 150 may not be far off for him...

Wow huge news. Pakistan are dropping Babar for the 2nd Test.

He hasn’t hit a fifty since December 2022!!! 😮

Only 9 tests since his last 50 though. Teams play so few tests these days time is meaningless. Also makes it hard for anyone to get into form.

Remarkable to see Indian batsmen struggling against spin on their own pitches. I guess smashing the ball around the park in the IPL on flat tracks isn't the best test preparation? Hopefully this result will make them re-evaluate their own priorities? More likely they'll just decide to play fewer tests and more T20s.

Big 3 won't stop playing Tests i dont think.

The problem with spinning wickets is it brings the "weaker" side into the contest. Here, Mitchell Santner was able to outbowl Jadeja and Ashwin. Full props, but he's not a better spinner than those two guys.

But take nothing away from NZ...they beat India on a seaming wicket, and then on a turning one too. And no team has ever won 3-0 in India in 90+ years of Indian Test cricket history. Truly an astonishing achievement.
