Opening post

Just looking at Zim's records and came across Ryan Higgins the leg spin bowler who played U19's and some ODI's 10 years back, he played in the U19's WC with Cremer but was given a shot in ODI's before Cremer on a tour to the Windies. Just curious to hear from those who remember him and have seen him bowl who was better? And also do you think he could have acheived more than Cremer??

Watched Higgins in the West Indies in 2006. Had a nice action but didn't turn it much. Lara got after him in one specific game, I think it's on YouTube so I'll have a look. Cremer is and always has been a better the superior bowler. He may have gone wicket less yesterday but he's still the best leg spinner in Zimbabwe. Plus Ryan Higgins couldn't bat, where as Cremer is good for a gritty 30 or 40

Cremer is actually looking pretty good at the moment. His economy rate in ODIs is under 5, just needs some wickets now.

I thought Higgins was a useful bat?

Always thought it was odd Cremer was given a test cap @18 but had to wait another 4-5 years to play an ODI, but Higgins was given a crack ......

It's because Cremer genuinely spun the ball. Anybody recall his test debut in South Africa? He bowled brilliant without any luck, especially for an 18 year old Kid. Spun the ball a long way to Rudolph and Smith especially, and that was on the flat, pace friendly wickets of South Africa. Higgins, as I said, didn't seem to put any revs on it when I watched him. More like a side spinner, who kept it tight. I don't ever recall him being a batter..?
