Who is better Tendai Chatara or Kyle Jarvis ? That is a question which I've been thinking about for a while now. When we got the news that KJ was heading off the the old land to play County cricket there were a few of us who thought this was a loss we couldn't recover from," How would we take 20 wickets to win a test without him " and who would replace him? But since KJ has left we sit here after the Pakistan series where we took 39 wickets and drew the series and the loss of KJ didn't seem to effect us and the main reason I believe is because of the emergence of Tendai Chatara !!! Even though he didn't start the series against Pakistan as the leader of the attack he definitely is now he seems to get better with every ball he produces and was our standout player @ the t20 WC. Now we can look at stats to try and decide but they're pretty even in Tests Tendai has a lower average of 27 compared to KJ's 31.73, but Kj strikes more often with a wicket every 52.3 deliveries with Tendai just behind with a S/R of 59.2. So Im just looking at overall bowling both players bowl around the same speed with different actions but consistency is the big difference between the two, where Tendai can put it on the same spot more often than not KJ seems to be less accurate or more erratic which ever way you look at it. KJ seems to try more things where Tendai sticks to what he knows although he is bowling a good slower which we saw in the t20 WC, maybe this is why KJ strikes more often because he tries more things ? or why he goes for more runs ? There is also the thought that KJ can bowl that 'magic' ball every now and then but is it just seen as a 'gem' because he produces a lot of poor deliveries along the way. Tendai seems less spectacular because he is so consistent and this is why I feel he isn't seen to be as dangerous as KJ,but I disagree some of the deliveries he produced in that last Pakistan innings were every much as spectacular as KJ's ball which knocked over Nafees in the 1st BD Test it just didn't seem as special because he puts the ball in that same spot more often than not.....

Overall I'd say Tendai is better due to his consistency and being able to keep it tight whilst taking wickets especially in the limited overs formats where KJ really struggled ......

I am all for Chatara he is a humble young man who is now miles ahead of Jarvis 'chatara will hold the attack for a while what will take him further than Jarvis is his humility and willingness to learn

I think they would both make each other better.

Yes it would be nice to have both ....

I'm looking forward to seeing how Tendai goes against the Saffers and Aussies .....
