I like Mangongo, pretty sure he doesn't like me :cry: He is passionate and actually has an interest in winning, I have concerns of his control over his own temper. He'll certainly be the best procurement coach i.e if he wants someone or something he'll get it. (fingers crossed overseas players are considered?)
I still find it ominous that he takes control now....almost as though someone wants him to fail.

It's tough talk but his options are limited, that's the problem. He likes Joylord and for sure he has some potential. Not sure what he thinks of Luke? He's also got potential and has done pretty well. He's not bowling that well and I think he should get to bat higher up the order and see how he goes.

Just to clear my stand, my initial remark on this was not anything against Mangongo here, but the state of our reserves. Nothing wrong with what Mangongo is saying here. But can we actually back up this tough talk with action at all, as we don't seem to have replacements? Where is the new talent we need? For example, Vusi might be horribly out of touch, but when he came on the scene, he was definitely looking more talented than the incumbents (Ebrahim, Rennie, Wishart, ...) and deserved his chances. It is another story if he has not lived up to it. But we don't even have a person who can challenge with talent / potential alone to replace our current batsmen, unfortunately.
On the other hand, one can't trust a guy who pushes around his own team members as well. You might be passionate, but there is a way to manage your team. He deserves his chance, but let us see how he goes.
That is not a good example at all. May be the current Vusi example is what we need to see as a benchmark (although his ODI form was much better last season than tests), not the Hammy one. Hammy hasn't played a single 50 over world cup. The last one in 2011 looked more like a witch hunt where they selected Duffin, Mawoyo and Chakabva (yes, all those) ahead of Hammy for an ODI series in the subcontinent! I have a feeling that it was an idiotic theory of Alistair Campbell of Hammy not suited for ODIs. And I admire how Hammy handled the whole saga.

They've been saying that since his Test debut 13 years ago and since 2007 this has been discounted by all the right thinking people. He was already a big hitter on note by the time he was dropped for the 2007 World Cup.
