I wanted you guys to be the first to have a look at the HMCA cricket website . There is still some work to be done but your input has been invaluable on the need to have match information and statistics available on the interweb. Looking good gargamel. In addition to what zimstarr and CrimsonAvenger said, I think getting the "Find a Community Club" up and running should be a high priority. I don't think there is any information publicly available anywhere which sets out the procedure for an aspiring player to join a club.
If I lived in Harare and wanted to play cricket (and didn't know anyone involved in the game), what I'd want is a resource that arms me with enough knowledge before I pick up the phone and start ringing every organisation that ends in "Sports Club". :)
For example, what I think would be helpful on the website would be:
- A list of the active clubs in Harare, along with their addresses and contact details
- Membership fees or any financial obligations
- Which clubs are in need of players
- When matches are played, and what type of matches (so someone knows the time obligations)
- A description of the standard of the matches - who plays in Vigne Cup, National League, are there second/third/fourth grade matches going on to cater for different skill levels?
- Maybe you can link to the friendlies league for people that just want to have a social hit out?
- If there's any indoor cricket facilities in Harare, maybe link to that as well
