All the backlash of this might force BCCI to reconsider and send a B team at least? Or a full series as a preparation ahead of the SA tour? I'm just dreaming. You can ignore this.

But surely they were only ever going to send a Bteam anyway?

Whats the point in Zimababwe supporting India and voteing with them to give them the power when they always screw them over ?????? Maybe Zimbabwe should change their 'alliance' to support England and Australia but then again they wouldn't tour or support Zimababwe.

The ICC is a joke anyways India get away with what ever they want just as long as they don't p**s England off too much and for everyone else who cares apparently its an absoulute sham.

What does India do for Zimbabwe for Zimbabwe to follow their every command ????

Probably pays for Chinogka's rolex's and " lap dances "

And all this talk about the ZC being broke what happened to the $1.5 million US the ICC just granted to Zimbabwe ???? I know it's spread over 3 years but thats still alot of money to allof a sudden be broke ..... we definatly know they're not spending it on the players $100 a week please Im surprised anyone stayed

Well, even if BCCI does not do any good, they won't do any major harm, like voting on taking away the test status, etc., or that's what the expectation is at least. It is basically about being in the good books with BCCI for survival, not for any benefits. Do you think BCCI would hesitate even for a second if ZC votes against it and sides with the other block? They will be stripped off the test status so that there is one less vote on the other side.

While the Zim cricketers deal with Mangongo, ZC has to deal with BCCI. May be things might improve if Mangongo becomes the ICC president and takes the BCCI president by the scruff of his neck...

yeah bit early to switch voting from brown to white atm, purely because of the fragile status of zc, both in financial regards and in relation to the test status. I fear zimbabwe will never achieve both on field success and financial offield sucess. the country just doesnt have the brains for it.

Pretty sure the ZC wage/salary bill was between $200-$300 000 a month at least!! $1.5 mil doesn't go far.
where can I get unofficial background information about India's place in cricket and ZIM's role in the voting process.

easy to seem that way so I feel we need some categorisation ( and we need to add 'numb'):

numb: small changes are so gradual that you adapt to them slowly without actually reacting to any. ie the "boiling frog" analogy. Zimbos who fall into this category; anyone who is legible to be in the diaspora but isn't!

dumb: inability to perform basic functions in a system with reasonable legal, health and educational infrastructure! eg, Pubs in the South of England are increasingly staffed by aussie youth, charming as you like but two-short planks would be better at getting your order and change accurate :) Zimbos who fit into this category; none (cause they've not experienced such a system)!

and dumber: Cutting off your nose to spite your face. ie "I'd rather die in my bed than have to make it!" Zimbo's who fall into that category ... the economic and political elite

brainless: the complete inability to see the consequences of your actions eg, The aussie John Howard's seemingly well-intentioned but horribly ill-considered attacks on Mugabe's Pariah state. Zimbabweans who fall into this category. Not sure ... but many who fall into dumber might well suffer from this affliction.

The sensible solution to this is for BCCI to agree to play the ODI series as a prelude to the SA series. If the series still goes ahead later this year then all's well that ends well.

Anyway, this was surely a missed opportunity for ZC without having to resort to threatening to switch votes to the English bloc in the ICC boardroom. As this was a scheduled series in the FTP, India should have to pay compensation to ZC. What was to stop ZC requesting the compensation as rescheduling is unfeasible (for whatever reason), and then offering a compromise in the form of a place in the Champions League qualifying stage from 2014 onwards?

A Champions League place is the holy grail, to be honest. It means more sponsors, it means more money, it means more players, it means more credibility. How ZC do not see this I don't know.

Golden opportunity missed.

Googly keep up the good work mate love hearing all the relevant information, me being a Non-Zimbabwean and being neither " Black or White " I feel I have an un-biased view on things and haven't felt your opinions are forged from racisim .....

Most boards would have TV rights, gate fees and sponsorship as their major income sources. ZC sells their TV rights for peanuts, charges token entrance fees (which I actually think is a good thing, overall) and has no sponsorship for either the national sides or the domestic competitions. So the ICC funding (they get Full Member income, as well as the development grant they got recently) is essentially it at the moment.

Fletcher will more laugh at this situation than feel pitty. When has he ever commented, supported or wrote about cricket in Zimbabwe in the past 18 years ?! As a coach he could have had some real input, but he's virtually abandoned his home land. Trevor Penny is the man to appeal to, not Fletcher.

truth is Googly, I think we're all at different stages of our baggage shedding ... but i am sure that you won't have many critiques on your views on ZPF and its machinations (it's just that being anti-ZPF is not evidence of impartiality) ...

having said that, the fact that I don't agree with your assessment of the make-up of the best present and near-future team is no reflection on you - i've never met anyone who would field the same 11 i would (and if i did - i'd probably change one of my 11 ;) )
I bet if this was Australia or another big team this tour would still go ahead. Just when Zim needs match practice this happens
