ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

I think its about time Zimbabwe started picking a specialist T20 team instead of using the same guys for all formats

I know there isn't many players to pick from but here goes .....

Hammie

BRMT

Raza

Williams / Zhuwao .... ( Would rather have Ervine )

Waller .... ( Would rather have Choppa )

Chigs

Mutombodzi

Shingi ...... ( big late order hitting gets him in )

Utseya

Mpofu

Muzhange / Mushangwe

Chatara and Vitori bowled well today but I feel are better used tearing in in the longer formats ......

"The cupboards are bare." - probably the most repeated sentence on the forums.

With nothing to lose, and with the kind of talent at our disposal, I would go for:

Hamilton Masakadza (A T20 legend by our standards)

Regis Chakabva / Richmond Mutumbami (seem to have the X factor. With confidence, they can convert, and rotate strike)

Brendan Taylor

Sikandar Raza

Brian Vitori (yes, him at no. 5 for some power hitting. He is not reckless by any standards)

Elton Chigumbura

Sean Williams

Malcolm Waller / Cephas Zhuwao (floating in the batting order)

Shingi Masakadza

Prosper Utseya

Tendai Chatara

Can Vitori bat ???

It's a shame Shingi n Keegan Meth struggle to bowl in these formats as their big hitting is perfect for T20

A Brave team on this forum one I would agree with. And our coaches just dont seem to have developed stategy wise. Vitori hits the ball quite cleanly and it goes far as well. I would put waller before Sean. Zim is tat type of team that needs to score lots of rungs between overs 10 and 15 because they dont have monster hitters or the right mindset to score plenty in the last 5 overs.

Never going to happen. Zim cricket is lost for ideas in team selection. Always the same players regardless of how they perform in every format. Zim squads are far too predictable.

Tawanda Mupariwa would also be a good fit for the " specialist " t20 squad
