About time. BT has been a class player for at least a couple of seasons now. IPL always takes notice a bit late for BD/ZIM players and jumps way to early on their own players....remember Ishant and his 900,000 auction?

I was kinda surprised to see him picked up after little activity and after seeing some of the big names go unsigned before him, including alot of highly rated keepers (Tim Paine, Wade,etc).
Guess the BPL success was noticed.
This is also the best advertisement for hanging around the ZC setup. You leapfrog yourself to a national stage.
Taylor is not in the top 12 keeps bats in the world but being on an international platform with little activity has given him the opportunity to be noticed and free to play mahjor tournaments uninterreupted.
A crucial moment for Taylor, this his one opportunity to join the big guns of world cricket. He will be a rich man and a household name if he dominates this tournament

Congrats BT! Great news! I guess I have a reason to watch IPL now :P
Like CrimsonAvenger I don't have much time for the IPL, but it's a huge opportunity for the players involved.
He's quite a smart buy though, a good "Moneyball" buy (if you've seen the movie). $50k buys a top order batsman and wicket keeper who has succeeded in all forms of the game, and on top of that he's got plenty of captaincy experience under his belt.
Yep, spot on. I've been saying for years that ZC need to be pushing this line. If nothing else, playing international cricket puts your name in a spotlight that no league in Dubai can do. If nothing else, by playing international cricket you're giving yourself the chance to be noticed by the IPL. If Chatara and Vitori repeated their performance against Pakistan against an Indian Test team then they would also have IPL contracts.
On a related note, ZC have probably missed a golden opportunity to get a team in the Champions League. They could have sided with SA early on and said their vote was contingent on a Zimbabwean domestic team appearing in the CLT20. A one in five chance at CLT20 pay day would have been a great incentive to give the players but the opportunity has probably slipped.

I know you've been banging on about this for ages, and I wholeheartedly agree that it would be beneficial... However, it's is never going to happen, and there was no golden opportunity. For a start, there isn't even a Zim T20 tournament to act as qualifying at the moment... :cry:
