Opening post

Did anyone else notice that in the proposed new FTP that cricinfo published back in July has the next 4 BD-ZIM series in Bangladesh. We aren't scheduled to tour ZIM until like 2021, meaning we get extended home field advantage.

Aside from this series, when was the last time Zimbabwe toured Bangladesh? Would have had to have been a while ago

For tests, almost 10 years. There have been 4 ODI tours tho.

they will play in Zim, they will both have plenty of space in the calendar

According to the draft calendar both teams secured a decent number of fixtures. I do hope we sneak in a couple more tours to ZIM. 2020 is a long wait.

Meaning ZC saves $1m per tour and BD gets to pay for our tours- i doubt home field advantage was thought of by ZC. :D

They'll suddenly start thinking of it again once Bangladesh overtake us in the Test rankings and we're staring at a 'Test Challenge' series against Ireland or Afghanistan. Which will happen if we're mostly playing in Bangladesh...

I honestly feel Bangladesh will (eventually) pass ZIM in the rankings regardless of venue/location. The last series was drawn 1-1 on sporting wickets. A third test would have most likely made it 2-1 either way. Over a considerable stretch of say 3 tests comprising 9 tests its likely we'd at least go 4-5 or 4-4. And home, I would wager we go at least 7-1. Thats 11-6 or 11-5 overall. Bangladesh can only add talent...we get 1 solid player every 2-3 years so we will only improve. Plus all our players barring Shakib are under 25. In five years, ZIM will have to replace the Taylors, the Hammies, the Williamses.

Plus a 3 test series in ZIM will have to have at least one game in Bulawayo, a surface that suits us more than the HSC.

If anything, the recent tri series proved which are the best squads to tour zim. Even when India came, they couldnt pull a crowd like Aus and SA did. I think even England would pull a big crowd.
