so pretty good effort with the ball. 42 less than the other day and 7 extra wickets. A long way to go with the bat, but as good a chance as we are ever likely to get against SA.

I agree with the sentiments above, if he is to play ODIs (he looks more suited to grinding out scores at Test level from what I've seen so far) I think it would be better to have him come in down the order where he can be part of the rescue effort rather than opening where he needs to set the pace.

Looks like a pretty good ODI top order to me. Maybe even with Chigumbura at number five if he's not going to bowl much.

Can't imagine how so many of the coaching staff can't recognize the clean hitting abilities of Vitori while ZCF knows his abilities from almost day 1 he played international cricket. He is a genuine short format no. 7 / 8 for me at the very least. And a pinch hitting middle order gamble when the spinners are operating. We are looking for an all rounder all over the place while we have one just under our nose.

Shareluke jongwe hs batting stance limits his ability to score runs freely . technique seems to be more important than scoring runs in zim ,utseya and waller hve their methords of scoring runs but wther we like it or not they can add at most 43 runs an innings which is a lot in our case .

Yeah, it was obvious from that first game against Bangladesh that if it's in the slot he can give it a fair whack.
I think he's more of a genuine 9 or 10 though, but I agree if it was a hail mary situation and quick runs were required he could pinch hit. He'd either get quick runs or get out.

ShareCan only imagine how close the game would have been if the top order batsmen performed to their abilities. Seems whenever Zimbabwe bowl well we can't back it up with the bat a vice versa. The top order remains to be Zimbabwe's biggest problem. Even though Mawoyo bats like a corpse wearing pads, maybe he should be given another go if only to play an anchor role for the innings or Vermulean until they can find someone younger. Raza when in form I believe is a good opener but he seems to have gone off the boil since the Afghan series. I really don't what the answer could be but they need to figure out before the world cup next year.

Zim is pretty much in sixes and sevens you never know whose gonna walk out on the field the next day. We do need to play more often so that we have a more settled team. Honestly 3 new guys against the Proteas what kind of result will we expect from that. I wonder if the verdict is out for Vusi Sibanda should he be looking else where like the Chibhabhas of this world or he will get another chance?

Sibanda is too good to cast aside completely, but someone needs to light a fire under him. I hope it isn't yet another case of Zimbabwean coaches promoting technique above all else with Sibanda. He has a naturally good technique and should be allowed to play his natural game, even hooking. He may get out to some silly shots but he will also score big on occasion.
