Opening post

Mountaineers are perhaps the most likely of the other franchises to challenge Matabeleland Tuskers’ supremacy, and they will be fancied to beat Mid-West Rhinos on their home ground at Mutare Sports Club. They are very powerful when they have all their international contingent, as they do now, and their clash with Matabeleland Tuskers at home on Wednesday next week is eagerly anticipated. They can play Hamilton and Shingirai Masakadza, Tendai Chatara, Timycen Maruma and Donald Tiripano, if the last two have recovered from injury, and will be a formidable force.

Mid-West Rhinos do have talent, especially Vusimuzi Sibanda, Peter Moor, Malcolm Waller, Michael Chinouya and the English professional Bradley Wadlan, but they do as usual suffer from lack of depth. No match is a foregone conclusion with such players in the team, but they will have a difficult struggle. It is just possible that an outraged Sibanda, omitted from the World Cup team, may be inspired to produce a match-winning performance, and that would be a sight to see.

Larry and the Don are at least giving themselves something to bowl at. Looking at the number of wides bowled at Chatara I can virtually picture the scene: Larry wildly running down the wicket, the bowler spearing the ball down leg or way outside off.

They're making hard work of this relatively simple run chase though.

Malcolm Waller can't buy a run at the moment.

Rhinos look weak without Wadlan, BRMT and Trenchy .....
