Opening post

Wow I reckon I shld start match trends more often. Who gave ZC any chance really. This was a methodical, clinical and professional win by ZC. Everyone making a contribution. Just so wonderful to see. And those who dare compare ZC to associate teams shall do so at their own peril.

Nice. If the Big 3 fire for us we have a chanc against most teams.

... and SA will feel the pressure after today's demolition by NZ, even if they rested Steyn and Hash.

Getting excited now, the matches against West Indies, Ireland the UAE and Pakistan are the targets, fairly happy that we will get the South Africa match out of the way first uop then we have four matches in a row which are winnable.

Looks like they are happy with the batting lineup, just a question of selecting one of Kamungodzi, Utseya or Muparwira now.
It's one of those days when you can proudly say to others that you are a ZC fan :D :D

Zimbabwe has the players to get them to the quarters. The only thing that I can see derailing them is makoni and his selections. No utseya please he has been found out.

Has anyone seen Utseya's new action ?? I'm thinking its a bit similar to how Chris Harris used to ball medium pace off cutters, either way from the warm up matches it doesn't look very effective .....

We opened our innings at 23-2 from the first 10 overs vs PAK and posted 246. Were looking for 270-ish till the tail collapsed. We were 183-2 in the 39th over. Asia Cup too we only took 40 off the first PP but ended up posting 326.

Guys like Mccullum and Warner are continuing the trend set by Sehwag, etc.

I was talking more about the top teams who actually hae a lot of players playing regularly in the top t20 comps in the world, you can't really count BD in that category as they only have Sakib and Tamin playin in IPL, CPL, BBL etc ......

Mushfiq turned down an IPL chance recently. Had he made himself available, I'm sure he'd have been picked - or at least should have since he's a better bat than Shakib or Tamim. I'd add Nasir as well avg 35 at a decent strike rate in both forms of the game...if he were Indian he'd have a $250,000 contract 2 years ago.

But the fact he isn't is a crucial difference. Entirely different markets for local and foreign players. Not comparable.

I'm calling it - we'll go through the tournament undefeated. Swept aside Northern Districts, all over NZ until rain saved them, comfortably got over SL.

Really happy for you guys. Even though I am a Bangladesh fan, but Zim is always my favorite except when they play against BD. Hope ZIM will put a good show in the main event.

Right but he'd still get a 50,000 contract or whatever the foreign player minimum is if not a quarter mil. He wouldn't go unselected, given that even crap players like Ashraful have gotten selected before (Ash even played in 2 games). But even if he was not picked, that wouldn't affect the calibre of batsman he is. He's a better bat than Shakib, Tamim, Ashraful who have all played in IPL games.

And btw, super performance from ZIM...prolly the strongest performance in recent memory apart from that 330 chase vs NZ and beating AUS at the T20 world cup. Just gotta keep it up and the WI are there for the taking. ZIM could very well make the quarters even if they lose to PAK.

Krieton you're missing the point, I wasn't trying to 'bag' Bangladesh I wasn't even talking about them the point I was making was that the teams with a lot of IPL or top t20 comps are scoring more quickly now a days even when loosing wickets they keep scoring quickly .....

Honestly,

Hammy, BT, SW are gold to zimbabwe at the moment.

When these men leave- it will be over.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Yeah, hard to see anyone else filling their shoes. We never replaced the Flowers and Streak and took a serious decline. The decline after SW, BT, HM will be even greater I fear.
