Hay PAriah, u seem to like Wasakadza a lot more than Chisoro? Why is that? I’d be curious as I think Chisoro is more effective, and race isn’t a possibility so I’d be interested to hear your reasoning here.

Common sense!

1. Wellington just turned 24 compared to Chisoro who is 30 in a few days.

2. Wellington averages ODIs-25.06, T20s 24.63, FC 22.89; while Chisoro averages ODIs 26.38, T20s 17.30, FC 40.87

3. Both can bowl with the new ball, middle overs and at the death. Effective in power plays.

Wellington is not just a better prospect than Chisoro, he's also a better prospect than Cremer in my view! Has far much greater control.

His latest FC innings is more than decent too... Sean, Craig, Chari and Mutumbami plus Mpofu and Vitori to a lesser extent - all internationals can agree.

Wellington was 22 when he made his international debut for Zimbabwe. Imagine how brilliant he would be now if he was given the space to develop in international cricket. Laughable to think that Cremer(47 Test Avg) and Chisoro (38 Test Avg), deputised by Raza (57 test Avg) are Zimbabwe's leading spin options. That's why Zimbabwe has a non-existent brains trust. Tragic that fans don't seem bothered or will defend mediocrity ahead of excellent potential.

NB: Constant references to race are misguided and cowardly. As much as Burl deserves a run ahead of Malcolm, why would it be wrong to argue that likewise Mutombodzi deserves a run ahead of Williams. In the same vein, why turn to Mire ahead of the likes of Kasuza? Or even Prince and Timecyn who have sound FC records?

I agree Mutomobodzi deserves a chance, in the A team at least if not in the national team. In case you didn't notice, Sean Williams has been dropped for this Test and rightly so. But I feel he should be picked for the Tri-Nation series in Bangladesh. He's no Maruma who looks like a proper tailender whenever he comes out to bat. He has proved himself at the international level. He is one of our best batsmen, and stats back him up too!

I agree Kasuza's performances have been better this season. In fact, he was given a go in the A team against UAE recently but he failed to do anything of note. He needs to do a lot more to be considered for national team honors. Mire, on the other hand, has at least proved himself in ODIs!

Prince Masvaure and Timycen Maruma are not openers by trade. And all the national team middle-order batsmen are better than them.

Wellington is an exciting talent, no doubt. But we also need to consider the fact that Wellington has not played against a Top 9 nation yet. I feel he is a better prospect than Chisoro when it comes to the long format. In fact, he would have been a much better pick than Chisoro for the West Indies series! But Chisoro hasn't really done anything wrong in limited overs cricket. And the thing is on most pitches we can't play more than two specialist spinners. Like it or not, Cremer is the best spinner in the country by a mile! Wellington, being a finger-spinner, naturally gets lesser turn but has more control. But Cremer is the more attacking option and has done very well for the national team lately.
