Burl and three other players are being closely monitored by the technical team ahead of the Pakistan series.

Zimbabwe to play Pakistan, Ireland, Afghanistan and Bangladesh A before the turn of the year.

Zimbabwe 'A' will play a total of 7 matches as well.

Kenyon Ziehl looking to engage some of the younger guys who went abroad back home.

They're also trying to bring in Solomon Mire for the World T20 next year.

Solomon Mire, what for? I could understand if he was good, but why bring in a crappy player who is also not committed to playing for ZIM? There are plenty of seam all rounders at least as good as Mire if not better. Like Shingi Masakadza.

Huh? He has bags of potential, biggest six hitter since Gayle and is as fit as a fiddle! But if he thinks he can just turn up whenever there is a major tournament he can think again. Same goes for Coventry, if these guys want to play then they should be training week in week out with the current guys otherwise it's incredibly unfair.

They don't necessarily have to train with the rest of the boys. ZC facilities aren't exactly the best. As long as they are training and fit, and the real key: committed to the ZIM cause they ought to be considered. I don't know enough about Coventry to comment on his committment, but Mire has openly said he's only there for World Cups. At least he's honest, but the fact of the matter is he's not nearly good enough to just turn up for a WC. Taylor can do that. Williams can do that. Jarvis the ODI bowler cannot do that (the Test bowler sure as hell can). Mire can't.

If Mire was that good he'd have done something in the 10 ODIs he's played - most of them on absolute highways and/or tiny grounds. ZIM has better allrounders, even Chigumbura and Masakadza are better all rounders than Mire. Shingi has a lot of promise. Isn't Jongwe a seam bowling all rounder? Try him.

But the bottom line is, he doesn't give a s**t about ZIM cricket, and that would be OK if he was half as good as Chris Gayle with a fractured hand.

OMG, he averages 11 in domestic T20s with an OK strike rate of 135.

Mire is overrated and relies on his "potential" to get in the side

Chigs/Jongwe/Chamu/Hammi can all bowl seam and clear the fence
When can we expect to get some dates for the Ireland/Afghanistan matches, seems like this has been in the works for a while now?

With so much cricket coming which is a very rear occurrence. Player management becomes very critical here. Maybe a rotation policy of some sort otherwise some player much succumb to fatigue and injuries.


Ziehl..... He added that he was excited there was so much cricket coming up and they would be able to give anybody who deserves a chance to stake their claim.

Good article, with plenty of positives. AngusBeef, if you read the original post, it does give the dates of all the upcoming senior games v Pakistan, Ireland and Afghanistan. I really hope that the Ireland and Afghan games will available on a stream somewhere?

I like the way Kenyon takes a positive slant on some the younger players playing club cricket in England. Talks about taking the initiative to improve themselves. Good stuff. There are several playing in the league I used to play in, in Berkshire and talking to some of my old teammates, they have impressed many both on and off the field.

Makes a refreshing change to from Mangongo calling it ' boozers league cricket'.

Great that we do have a few more games lined up, and good for the A-team as well.

Question, are they will to come play for Zim these mates of yours given the chance?
Finally Zimbabwe is going in the right direction, I hope they will soon finalize the date of the domestic season. Since they are trying bringing cricketers back from England. focusing on youngsters I have few names Kieran Geyle, Brandon Diplock,Dyaln Nel, And Malcolm Lake bring them and make them play in Franchise cricket side. If you want to improve cricket ranking you can take example of Bangladesh they're doing very well now

I bet against my team all the time.

That said, some games when I'm passionate about Zimbabwe winning, I take other bets, such as most runs and most wickets.

I highloy recommend that option, as the bookies dont get it right at all.

I have found it very easy to win money that way.

Nothing will ever Top the odds offered for Solomon Mire to top score against SA and W.I.

They offered 100-1!!!!

Even Panyangara was 26-1.


So true its just economics. Rather use your brains not your heart. I used to go to HSC purely to catch a game of cricket.

i checked out the betting page but no where to beat for Zim vs Pakistani.


Betting on the matches is not our yet, probably in the next four or five days.

But I can easily offer you odds of what I think would be like for the first T20, Zim 15/10, Pakistan 5/10. So there might be value there on Zim, its only a T20 an upset is always on the horizon.
