probably going to happen later on in the year.I think the next games are in June when India tour us for a test and some one day matches. then new Zealand and sri Lanka. the ICC test fund should see us play at least 6 or 7 test matches this year. really want the tests against Bangladesh.it would be interesting to see how they perform on foreign soil.

I don't know how true it is but apparently the BCB are relectant to accept a test tour of Zim. Probably worried of losing points, which is lame. Need as many Tests as possible. Hopefully later in the year!

Zimbabwe Cricket's attitude to test cricket is becoming lamentable. I heard somewhere that the test against India will now be 5 ODI's instead, and I wouldn't be suprised if the alleged tours from New Zealand , Sri Lanka and possibly Bangladesh go along similar lines.

Other boards are not exactly over keen for test cricket , I'll admit, but we are becoming a test nation in name only. I really hope I'm proved wrong, but what should have been a good summer according to the FTP has the potential to be another 50 over fest, where ZC claim to be preparing for the next limited overs tournmament in 2023 or whenever....

I find this particularly frustrating as I believe 5 day cricket is still where we are most competative.

I also agree that our current players are more suited to test cricket especially the batsmen like chakabva for example who is perfectly capable but just needs time. in fact I believe t20s will always be our worst format because the pressure just builds too quickly and our guys just don't have the mentality.

hopefully the ICC test fund which was introduced to stop exactly what Is happening to us from happening will force our board to play those scheduled tests

Success in which format will change the image of Zimbabwean cricket? I think we would have to win a lot of ODIs or do well in a major tournament for our image to change there. Success in the T20 World Cup is the only avenue to change our image in that format. However, success in tests against nations like Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, even if they are all home tests will help improve our pulling power in world cricket.

One test victory does wonders for our standing, probably equal to getting through early rounds of a world cup.

one thing we know for sure is that if we are winning tests ICC will never get rid of us. even if it is a second string India team it will mean something..the big scalp we should be targeting this year is sri lanka. if we are competitive against teams like sri Lanka west indies Pakistan and Bangladesh in this format, which i believe we can be in our own backyard, our image will improve

^ well now that the ICC has foolishly decided to limit Test status to only the top 7 nations...I think BD needs to focus on closing the gap with WI and SL. SL are fighting well at Lords right now, but if BD can somehow manage to pick up another 20 points (SL will almost surely lose 10 in the meanwhile) we may be able to jump into the 7th spot by whatever cutoff date the ICC picks. Just hope its 2018 and not 2017.
