Three things from the article that matter to us:

1. He holds an Irish passport.

2. He averaged an ordinary 28 for Somerset second XI.

3. He is being sent to NZ for a season in an exchange program. He would have played serious cricket in Zim, SA, Eng and NZ before he turns 20. Invaluable experience.

These guys are wasting their time overseas. He could probably be playing international cricket by now for Zimbabwe, not toiling around in second XIs in a muddy park in England with a pie cart out back.

I agree its a waste of time and talent but we must remember there is a difference between playing international cricket and financial freedom. PJ ventured to Ireland for a bit too but I believe as long as we play test cricket we will always be a better option than Ireland unless he cracks the English team.

its been said before, but its worth reiterating.

For the last 4 years or so the money problems HAVENT been from our best players. ZC appear to have learnt that lesson.

They pay the Ervines and co. decently it seems. At least, Ive heard nothing to the contrary.

Being an auto Zimbabwean selection is a very comfortable position to be in as a player. Alot of time off for bludging or to play in 20/20 leagues, but on the books getting paid anyway.

You wont be a Millionaire from the game but you will definitely be doing better than your equivalent elsewhere. For instance, Im sure Ervine is doing better than Colin De Grandhomme, who went the NZ route.

The guys on the fringes are the ones that suffer. Nyauchi types. People who havent made a name for themselves.

An Eddie Byrom type you'd think would be in that privileged elite tier by now, or about to be.
Excellent decison by Ed Byrom.

Byrom did great thing quitting Zimbabwe, Rubbish Selectors are nightmare for the under 19 players in Zimbabwe, Racist Zimbabwe Selectors can't drop failures, shows no interest on Under 19 players, its better for them to leave and go for greener pastures where they could show case their talent.

WHITE PLAYERS LIKE N.WALLER, R.BURL, K.BOWIE, B.DIPLOCK, D.BELL, J.BRUCE, R.MURRAY, J.IVES ARE MUCH BETTER THEN "USELESS " BLACK QUOTA PLAYERS LIKE CHIBHABHA, MUZARBANI, NYUMBHUS

I too hate quotas. I hate that ZCF has a moron poster quota that seemingly grows by the day.
