Credit where credits due, melon is pretty insightful and among the smarter members of this forum, but he dropped the ball on this one.

Why sad? Utseya and Chigumbura are both mediocre cricketers. If they were in any other country they'd barely make a first class squad.


I can assure you they would not make a first class squad in any of the major countries


Yeah thats why I said barely...ie they scrape into the bottom 4 teams FC teams, but little chance in a top 6.

That's pretty harsh. Sure they wouldn't right now, but a couple of years ago Chigumbura was a capable, destructive (though inconsistent) batsman. And Utseya was a really economical bowler. Both of their games are more suited to limited overs, but I'd still be surprised if they couldn't have made the squad of one of Sri Lanka's four hundred FC teams or one of WI's regional FC teams.

Chigumbura did play FC cricket in England. Also T20 all over the place, and List A in Bangladesh.
