Opening post

Vusi dreamed of making loads of cash
so he headed off for the Big Bash
but his hopes were mislaid
he didn't make the Grade
and returned home with a crash

LOL
Zim fanatic since 1987
with the loss of one Brendan Taylor
Zim cricket is fail and getting failer
without a hope & a prayer
and leeches like Utseya
its enough to make me a Car-fume-inhaler!
Toxic Dwarf complained when he was cut
he said racism pushed the door shut
but the saving light
was neither black or white
all hail to Sikander Raza Butt!
ZCF Hall of Famer
Time for panic, time to lie
Time to kiss your career goodbye
Send me money, send me green
Makoni you will meet
Make a contribution
And you'll get a better seat
Bow to Prosper Utseya.
The master of disaster Inzimam Ul Haq
king of the run out and endless bad luck
has yielded his crown
to a new batting clown
All hail Hammy - inventor of new ways to come unstuck!

Good to have you and your limericks back, PieChucker :D
Seeing that there are no games coming for a while and realising that there are only so many things that we can say about the traitor Ballance and the Matsi Conspiracy, I decided to open up the ZFC Poetry competition.
Entries should be in Limerick form, but for those of us who don't know what a Limerick is, you can just bust a rhyme as you feel, or send in some twisted SMS rym..

Here's my opener...

Forumites still love to take digs
at the player we all call Chigs
His form is erratic
but Chigs is ecstatic
'cause he's farming a team of pigs!

ok, still warming up.. here's another

I'll tell you a true sad story
of the high hopes we had in Vitori
his figures were high
a world record was nigh
but alas, the wrong kind of glory!

over to you .... help me out here...

Good ones to begin with, Sir!

There was a young man named Kyle,
He'd barely been round a short while,
He took lots of poles,
Didn't satisfy our trolls,
And may end up top of the pile.
The Third Innings

This game we call cricket
Has indeed caused a racket
We went down under
But found no power
When we got to two hundred
Kane was still around
He hit us out of the ground
He surely made his father proud
For us it was back to the drawing board

A great idea, and some great lines already :D

Here's my first ever try to write "poetry" in English:

When Prosper and Price get it right
They keep it ever so tight
They don't get much turn
Which is a concern
But they beat the batsmen with flight

... and now for the "Two Inevitables":

Ed Rainsford and Panyangara
Have never dismissed Brian Lara
They both broke their backs
on unforgiving tracks
Their pace "Gone With the Wind" like old Tara
Legend
Here's another one:

Taibu is the name of our keeper
Behind the stumps he's a speaker
He is rather small
Does not bat like a wall
But he sure is a hell of a sweeper

:D some nice stuff there guys!!

a simple way of saying the same thing ... in a different way :)

Whether Ervine or Williams or Gary
The decision to leave just don’t carry…
Will they make it abroad?
Or fall on their sword
When their county says “leave, do not tarry”

or this one!??

When touring with youngsters beware
To guard all expectations with care
Bet we’ll lose by an innings,
If you want to make winnings
And then spend it in the three days you ‘ave spare

one last little malicious dig... ;) :)

Doesn’t matter if we struggle to hide it
Or whether or not we abide it
If it has to be said
We can write it instead
In a lymeric - I have applied it!

toungue-in-cheek thread - like it!! :D

foreignfield wrote:Our batsmen had not played a Test in a year
All us fans were therefore trembling with fear
Tino Mawoyo was willing
But got done by a Shilling'
And the rest never moved into top gear

Our bowlers were equally underprepared
But Jarvis and Chatara were not scared
Price did his stuff
Cremer not nearly enough
Well and Hamilton, two wickets he snared

😂 😂 😂 bravo!

Good ones, foreignfield.

I've seen enough of this player caller Younis
Who for Zimbabwe seems hard to dismiss
He never gave us a sniff
In fact not even a whiff
Let's pray for a ball that he'll miss
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Younis Khan's name is sometimes spelt as "Younus" too. I hope you don't start finding out words that rhyme with that... :)
