A bridge between Club and Franchise cricket has long been a necessity, could this be it? Also, would there be any kind of "promotion" available to the province that wins this competition.

There are 8 clubs in Harare that play competitive cricket that feeds into the franchise system.

The jump isn't from club to franchise.

The jump is franchise to international that is too much for some.

You want to increase cricketing participation in development areas? Fine, and that's noble. How is creating first class teams there going to help? Wouldn't you be looking at creating local friendly competitions ?

First class should be very tough to break but reality is its just on par with decent club teams. It's a worry.

You have 8 Harare clubs and 6 Bulawayo clubs feed a 4 pointed franchise system. Roughly one in 5 club players thereabout play first class professionally.

In Australia it would be 1 in 2000 get that privilege.

It's not like a casino where you build it and they will come, nor are franchises money spinners with bumper crowds.

My suggestion is keep it at four and have a best of five Harare v Bulawayo team. Create the extra level on top. Like possibles v probables they do.

-Us having a small player pool is just a fact? Its not really something thart can be argued against.My personal cricket association, conmsisting of teams across 8 sydney suburbs (sydney has 152 suburbs) has more cricket teams that Harare.

-An u/23 academy team will only be about level with a club side. So by all means have this squad team, but in the Harare metro league.

-Adding franchises will damage zimbabwean cricket immensely. The gulf is TOO WIDE betwee international and the Logan cup. Widening it wont help.

-costs. We are already broke, why add unneccessary expenses.

We should go to a three wy franchise system with emphasis on expanding club level.

Anyone even close to being good enough to playing for Zim, will be playing franchise, believe me.

The club scene in Zimbabwe should really be at the level of our first class cricket. The key to a successful domestic structure is a strong club scene, not just adding more first class teams so everyone gets chosen.
