Afghan fans are like that too. A few wins against UAE and Hong Kong and people (mostly Pakistanis and Indians, but I'm sure Afghans felt that way too) were talking about how they would roll BD in the ICC events. Ended up losing by 9 wickets and 100+ runs on both occaisions.

Its an Asian thing. Just look how the Pakistanis were after winning the Champions Trophy. They literally won 2 decent games (England in the semis, India in the final). South Africa would choke trying to swallow air, and Sri Lanka were in s**t form at the time. 2 wins and they are world champs, world beaters what have you. Same with India. Won the 2011 WC at home and Shastri was on air beefing with Naser Hussain about people being "jealous" of India and how they would walk all over everyone. Ended up losing 0-8 on their tours of AUS and ENG, and even lost 2-1 at home to ENG right after.

Its an Asian thing cuz Asians suck at any other meaningful sport, excluding bullshit fake hockey or shooting air rifles or chess or something.

You don't like hockey? Quite a skillful sport really. India are a bit over-hyped in hockey also, they haven't a world tournament in ages. Pakistan hockey is in really dire shape.

Ice hockey is a real sport. Don't know anything about field hockey, lol. But I'm not a fan of either sport.

In my youth I was addicted to NBA and NFL, but I've lost all interest in both. Stil enjoying shooting hoops and playing flag football though I haven't done so in ages.

From Nepal's point of view....this game showed that they have a long way to go. Giving up 380 on any surface means you got thoroughly outplayed. The only positive there is England's record of 444 was still quite a ways off. Getting 264 with the bat and batting out 50 overs was a decent effort.

Good win first up. Nice to set a big total. Anyone else a little disappointed we didn't bowl them out for less? Perhaps shows a lack of firepower. Also wouldn't have bowled Zhuwao and Waller. We should have just gone for the jugular. Show some intent and let the bowlers who are more important get the game time experience.

Looked like everything went to plan the openers had a quick start and despite losing Hami for 17 BT and Ervine were able to steady the ship and Raza came in and went nuts. I think our batting lineup is really well balanced as shown yesterday when things go well, the problem is when we lose early wickets s**t hits the fan. You’ll notice in nearly all of our wins we have a decent score up before we go two down, hopefully having Hami @3 Hines is that calming influence if we go down 2 down early against Afghanistan.

Williams for Waller is the clear change if he is fit, I think he’ll struggle to bowl more than bat so I wouldn’t drop a bowler for him.

Jarvis is the only concern he seems to be struggling with an ankle injury from reports and he has dropped off big time. He actually bowled really well in BD and in the t20’s against Afghanistan but since then he’s struggled.

I agree with Foreignfield if he’s playing he needs the new ball.

Great win and start by the lads , raza had a blinder and Taylor is standing up when it matters worth every cent if he keeps it going . Is it a official odi ? Do the stats count or is it a list a match ? Changes for next game would be Waller out and Williams has to play and Jarvis our for blessing , kid should have been there fullstop. Seems Jarvis is really struggling. Blessing offers pace and bounce and raw talent , selectors needn’t to bite the bullet and go with Chatara blessing and muzarabani in my opinion . Mire and mr maximum opening has payed off and got us the quick start which allows our experienced solid middle order to play their natural game . Very good signs , now onto afg . Really need to play khan well and we are a huge chance , great confidence booster for zim. Exciting times

Bowling needs to lift though. Conceding 250 against Nepal papers over the cracks a bit - that'd be 350+ against Afghanistan.

Cremer has been in great form, taking wickets and keeping runs down for quite a while. But he really needs some support.

Navjot Singh Sidhu is an actual politician in India, not just a teenage cricket fan messing around with photoshop. You won't see politicians in BD talking s**t about other countries.

Yes, this guy bears some resemblence to Mohammad Rafique, but why pick the darkest BD player and use him for a parody if not to make some racist point? Why not pick a "Pakistani" or more "Aryan" looking player like Khaled Mahmud or Mashrafee Mortaza?

BD media doesn't make racist parodies about other teams either.

Our fans are obnoxious, yes. But no one would say we're worse than our neighbors unless they've been smacked on the head repeatedly.

how often does cricket get a run in the US?

Last year when i was there for a few months i dont seem to recall struggling to find any cricketing reference.

alot of indian types floating round happy to talk shop.

pretty sure i saw some cricketing references on TV.

In 2015 when Jarryd Hayne made the NFL briefly off the street rugby league and union was getting a bit of hype, yanks were talking to me about it in the street, but pretty sure that died down just as quick.

Sidhu was banned from commentry box for improper comments just like Dean Jones. Asian ex players cross limits specially when it comes to India against Pakistan. Bangladesh ex players never comes in news, but at present Bangladesh fans are more vigour even they attacked Sudhir Gautam & Chacha two biggest indo-pak fan

Cricket is still regarded in the US as something slightly less exotic than Chinese foot binding rituals.

Couple weeks ago I was on a 3.5 hour flight to LA and one of the two women sitting next to me struck up a conversation. I casually threw in that I watch cricket - I don't remember why I would do that, maybe because the girl mentioned she played softball in high school. At any rate, both women's curiosities were immediately piqued. I could have told them I had 10 million dollars worth of diamonds taped to my d**k and they would probably not have been as interested, lol.

The woman my age was a former softball player and the older woman's daughter was a current softball player so both were interested in cricket. I spent the next 3 hours answering all their questions and explaining almost everything. You know you're having an excellent discussion with an American when they pull out their laptop and google "cricket field" and ask you "what is 'on side?'" You know you've had a thorough discussion when you explain what a short-leg or silly point fielder's basic job is.

As far as seeing cricket on the mainstream media or consciousness...its not really there yet in the US. And it won't be unless the US makes a major ICC event or at least gets to host one. Soccer got big here in 1994 after we hosted the FIFA WC, and soccer was still magnitudes more known back then compared to cricket in 2018.

Cricket is still by and large the butt of jokes here in the US, and Americans erroneously believe that its far too complex for them to understand. If Americans can understand football, they can easily grasp cricket.
